First Night Out At The Clubs In South Florida
Staring in the mirror, glancing one last time to be sure each single hair was in place; my lovely girlish make-up was picture perfect. A single last peek. Adrenaline raced my heart beat as I walked out the door, destination: Local Hot Spots. My first night out in town in lovely Fort Myers, Florida. Like many people who reside in sunny southwest Florida, I am not local to the state. Born in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, this would be my night to remember. As my dashing gentleman, who I chose fastidiously to escort me to the open door of our awaiting Fort Myers limo, I sit down majestically as I try to calm my nervousness. The door latches, signaling it's time to get this party started.
On this particular evening, my fellow co-worker told to me that his band was playing later that evening. Club Nirvana, here we come. Stepping within my senses where overwhelmed. Faint lights, blue lights. Red lights, and even black lights. 'Is that a fog machine? ' I marvelled awfully temporarily. Of coarse there would be a fog machine, I lightly giggled to myself. The music was a mixture of Rock-n-Roll and Reggae. A fun combination to drink my first cocktail, cranberry and vodka. I tilted my head back and gulped the contents down. The burn could not have felt any better. Though here is where it all started, this is not where I would finish.
After smartly visiting the Buddha, and not fully enjoying my evening, I was inwardly irritated. Could this be all that Fort Myers had to give? Then my wonderful man had a simple last trick up his sleeve to impress me. His Ace in the Hole. Club Ultra. Pulling into the parking lot, I could tell by the bouncer this particular joint was unique. With my age verified, and my non-date at my side, I strode in with my pride intact, confidence in control, I was certain I was going to rock this joint tonight.
I did not know quite where to go, or what I should have been doing, but after a swig of fine spirits or 2, a thought hits me. This young woman must be in that group of people doing what she knew best. Dancing. Snagging his hand and rushing to the center, I felt that mystical connection to the music and it was "go" time. My hips moved. Legs that moved tuned dipping me down low and bringing me up real slow. I felt the perspiration cascade down the small bit of my back; it did not make me dirty though, only blazing hot. The sex appeal had me in its grinding grasp. Not even registering the multiple eyes on my person, at that particular moment, I did not mind. I was at liberty to ironically be me. The whole time I felt good, irresistible. I was dancing and that was all I could wrap my thoughts around.
What eventually turned into hours, appeared like simple minutes where I was concerned. Red interior and friendly bar mixed up with the newest hiphop and rave music added the most pleasant touch to my night. Then all of a sudden the lights turned on and the music stopped. Convinced of night life, slowly registered as early morning. And that was OK with me. I thanked my interesting companion for the best time. For my first "out on the town." I ultimately experienced what all others were chitchatting about. As we exited I looked at him and he returned my thought without words. Tonight wasn't over yet, as we shared another drink on the way home in the back of the limo.
"Closing time, you don't have to go back home, but you can not stay here."
