Solar Energy - Use it Now!
Solar electricity has been around forever at least so long as we humans can tell. Solar power has been used for centuries. It dries your hair when you run out of time to employ a power blow dryer. It may fry an egg on the path on a hot summer day. It also liquifies your ice cream on the same day.
But now, solar energy has a completely new meaning, as does solar energy system. How and why has this happened? The history of solar energy is fascinating.
Coal Started This Story
When coal was being used almost exclusively during the Industrial Revolution, it was the norm. No one was concerned about finding another source of fuel, although they were starting to use biomass and fossil fuels, and wood had been in use for a long time. The use of solar energy was first contemplated in the 1860s as scientists thought that coal was becoming less available. But in the early 20th century, coal and petroleum were again easily available, and weren’t too expensive.
During the oil embargo ( 1973 ) and the energy crisis ( 1979 ), the executive's energy policies worldwide were under perusal. There had been replenished interest in developing solar technologies. Regime developed special programs with incentives, like the Sun Program in Japan. The U. S. had the Fed Photovoltaic Function Program. Govts in several states also developed research facilities ( US, Japan, and Germany were outstanding. )
To be fair, in the US there had already been commercial solar water heaters since the 1890s. There were inflating number of users of these systems, till there were more trustworthy and less expensive fuels. Solar heating was of interest in the oil crisis that occurred in the 1970s but when the cost of petrol went down, so did interest in solar water heaters.
Since the 1990s, there has been increased interest in sun-powered heating, and now it's the most well-liked solar technology. There are more used of solar power, however.
For office buildings, solar electricity can supply daylighting systems and reduced need for aircon.
For agriculture, solar energy can run the pumps, wine presses, and even the chick brooders.
For cooking, solar power is utilized for cooking, drying, and pasteurization. These can be of varied forms, from reflector ovens ( remember using those while camping? ), panel cookers, which use solar panels to gather heat, and box cookers. These can reach temperatures adequate to cook just about anything.

Oracle Purchases Sun Microsystems
In April of 2009, Oracle Corporation, an enormous hardware and software development company, and Sun Microsystems (an information technology, computer and computer software developer) had agreed to join forces. Oracle Corporation had decided to acquire and purchase Sun Microsystems. With this, the company now owns and operates both Java and Solaris. The transaction itself was said to run a little over seven billion United States Dollars. Oracle CEO Larry Ellison proudly stated, "The acquisition of Sun transforms the IT industry, combining best-in-class enterprise software and mission-critical computing systems."
Sun Microsystems, Incorporated is present in more than ninety countries around the world. Developing technology, and holding to the idea that, "The Network IS the Computer". With that being said, it is no secret that this company is a leader in technological innovation.
Oracle Corporation is currently the largest software corporation in the world. With over three hundred and fifty thousand customers worldwide, this leader in hardware and software are taking great strides. President of Oracle Corporation, Safra Catz stated, "We estimate that the acquired business will contribute over $1.5 billion to Oracle's non-GAAP operating profit in the first year, increasing to over $2 billion in the second year."
Both Oracle and Sun Microsystems have been in the business for over twenty years, competing, and also working with each other on products of all types. Oracle Corporation's President Charles Phillips stated, " Sun is a pioneer in enterprise computing, and this combination recognizes the innovation and customer success the company has achieved." The Sun Microsystems Board of Directors unanimously decided on the sale to Oracle Corporation. Charles Phillips then stated, "This transaction will preserve and enhance investments made by our customers, while we continue to work with our partners to provide customers with choice."
The relationship between Oracle Corporation and Sun Microsystems is said to have evolved into this current relationship, over time. Chairman of Sun Microsystems, Scott McNealy stated, "This combination is a natural evolution of our relationship, and will be an industry-defining event." Oracle Corporation continues to be committed to Linux and their other current platforms, although Sun Microsystems' SEO also stated, "From the Java platform touching almost every business system on earth, powering billions of consumers on mobile handsets and consumer electronics, to the convergence of storage, networking and computing driven by the Solaris operating system, and Sun's SPARC and x64 systems. Together with Oracle we'll drive the innovation pipeline to create compelling value to our customer base and the marketplace."
With respects to stock, the transaction took place at $9.50 per share, in cash. President of Oracle, Safra Catz, stated, "We expect this acquisition to be accretive to Oracle's earnings by at least 15 cents on the non-GAAP basis." Oracle's CEO also stated, "Our customers benefit as our systems integration costs go down while system performance, reliability and security go up." It will be interesting to see what evolves from this formulated pact, and what new products and services will be defined in the near future. The transaction was complete and closed in January of 2010.
